Irene S. Kazmers, MD, FACP

 

Irene S. Kazmers, M.D., F.A.C.P. started practicing rheumatology in 1981.  She was born and raised in Berkeley, California.  She graduated from Stanford University, then received her M.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco.  Dr. Kazmers moved to Michigan in 1976 for Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  After completing Internal Medicine Internship and Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Michigan, she served on the clnical teaching faculty at the University of Michigan from 1981-1984.  She then worked in Seattle, Washington from 1984-1988, serving on the clnical teaching faculty of the University of Washington as Assistant Professor.  From 1988-1993 she worked as a private practice rheumatology consultant in Lexington, Kentucky.  Dr. Kazmers returned to Michigan in 1993, accepting a position as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Rheumatology Division of the University of Michigan, which she held until moving to Petoskey in 2004.  At that time, she joined Harbor Arthritis Center as a private group practice rheumatologist. In September, 2009, Dr. Kazmers opened a private solo rheumatology practice, Northern Michigan Rheumatology, based in Petoskey, Michigan.  Dr. Kazmers is an active member and past President (2002-2004) of the Michigan Rheumatism Society.  Other professional activities include serving as Chief of Staff of Northern Michigan Regional Hospital (NMRH), with membership on the NMRH Board of Trustees from 2008-2010.  Dr. Kazmers continues to focus through her career on the care of those with rheumatologic conditions.
